Bed Breakfast: Emma Nevada House

In my travels touring bed and breakfast locations throughout the United States, I’ve found myself leaning towards home almost every time. I grew up in Northern California, and have found it difficult to find a more beautiful climate anywhere. One of my favorite places in the world is Nevada City, California. This quaint old mining town has absolutely no chain-stores. Meaning, everything in town is owner-operated, and ran by families. The beautiful hilly slopes of main street are home to stunningly beautiful sites. The old Nevada Theater is the oldest running theater in the Western United States, and although its haunted–has been host to some of the most famous theatrical and musical artists of this century. Nevada City was the home to influential minds such as Utah Phillips, musicians like Joanna Newsom, and the setting for many movies and books.

One particular location has always held a special place in my memory: The Emma Nevada House. The Emma Nevada House was built in 1861 by Dr. William Wixom, a doctor at the local mine. His daughter Emma later became a famous opera singer, studying and touring in Europe for most of her life. She lovingly adopted the nickname Nevada in honor of her hometown. The Emma Nevada House is surrounded by beautiful gardens, a stream, and is an ideal destination for the soulful traveler.

Description: 19th Century Opera Star Emma Nevada would be proud of the inn bearing her name. This completely restored and decorated 1856 Victorian sparkles like a jewel from an abundance of original, water-float glass windows, one of many marvelous architectural details. The 6-guest room inn is a mix of grand, high-ceilinged, and cozy intimate rooms, all with private baths (some jacuzzi tubs), queen beds, and fluffy down comforters. A full hearty breakfast is served. Large common areas and spacious decks.

With six rooms to choose from, ranging in style and size, you can have your pick of the kind of experience you’d like to have in Nevada City.

After a restful night’s sleep in the comfortable, cozy beds, you arise to the smell of fresh-baked pastries and fruit. Enjoy a cup of coffee or cappuccino out on the veranda as you plan your exciting day. Nevada City is a mountain town, and there’s limitless outdoor activities right at your fingertips, anything from hiking and swimming in the warm blue Yuba river, to kayaking through rapids on the America river. You can spend the day in town, browsing through the endless artisan shops ran by the friendly local community. The restaurants in town range in prices and quality–but all include local ingredients grown farm-fresh. Visit the music shop, and enjoy the local culture, go to a music festival, or art fair, or any number of endless activities going on in Nevada City year-round.

Depending on the time of year you go, Nevada City has lots of activities available that celebrate its history and culture. Every year there is a World’s Music Festival at the Grass Valley Fair Grounds that bring in artists from all over the world. This can be a great way to expose yourself to bright cultures from across the globe in a fun and safe environment.

Find Work At Home

Finding employment at home is difficult and people need to be cautious.

As it turns out, finding a job at home is almost harder than finding other work or trabalho anywhere. There are a lot of illegitimate advertisements for home employment. A common scam tactic is to charge a fee for job listings or a fee to get started. Legitimate companies do not charge interested employees for anything.

Several work-from-home jobs that are legitimate include data entry, coding, medical transcription, billing, editing, proofreading and telemarketing. Telecommuting also allows employees to work from home.

Sites such as CareerBuilder.com or Indeed.com are an extensive database of employment opportunities. Although popular job search engines are convenient, finding work at home at these websites is still rough.

These search engines rarely separate home based business opportunities from traditional posts. Having to weed through hundreds of other jobs to find a home job lead takes too much time. Putting in the right key words in these search engines to filter through regular jobs is important and will save you time.

Keywords that will help you find the jobs at home you are looking for include:

• Telecommuting
• Telecommute
• Freelance
• Off-site
• Remote work
• Virtual employee
• Telework
• Remote contractor

Once you find a potential employer to work at home, make sure you research the company before you exchange any personal information or financial information. It is better to be safe than sorry.
